Discovery Workshop

Understand the Logic of Your Nervous System

When you feel anxious, stressed or unsettled — especially when nothing happening around you seems to explain it — what is your nervous system actually doing?

What if these symptoms are not really about what happened?  And what if they are not evidence that your nervous system is dysregulated?

This Discovery Workshop explores what the nervous system is actually doing beneath those reactions — and why what looks confusing from the outside can make complete sense once you understand the logic behind it.

Questions we will explore

  • Why can you never really feel calm?
  • Why can you know you are safe, yet feel as though you are not?
  • Why can you understand exactly where a reaction comes from and still be unable to change it?
  • Why can you know what you want to do — speak up, leave, say no or stop something — and not be able to do it?
  • Why do you need to keep practising regulation or calming your nervous system when those practices seem to bring relief?
  • What actually needs to change for the nervous system to recognise that something is over?
  • And how much choice do we really have when the nervous system is making decisions before the conscious mind has caught up?

This is not another workshop about how to calm your nervous system.

It is an introduction to understanding why it is responding the way it is in the first place.

You will begin to see anxiety, stress, avoidance and seemingly irrational reactions through a very different lens.

And once the logic becomes visible, the response itself starts to make far more sense.

Workshop Outcomes

You will leave with a clearer understanding of how past experience can continue to influence present-day reactions, what keeps you stuck, how your nervous system can change, and a path forward.

The Workshop

This is an educational and experiential workshop and NOT a group therapy session. Activities are designed to help make the concepts understandable without asking participants to process personal experiences.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is for adults who are curious about their own reactions, patterns and choices and want a clearer understanding of how the nervous system responds to threat.

It is also suitable for practitioners and professionals who are interested in the logic underlying trauma responses, behaviour and agency.

No prior knowledge is required.

Not group therapy

This is an educational and experiential workshop rather than a group therapy session. Activities are designed to help make the concepts understandable without asking participants to process traumatic experiences.

The workshop is held outdoors with horses present. Participation with the horses is always by choice.
